45 ACP SWC cast load data COAL 1.135 too short?

So I got some cast the other month from Wes and I figured I would load some up. Of course Lyman or my Hornady didn't have 185 Gr SWC. So I go to Hodgdon's website and they show for JSWC and O.A.L. is listed at 1.135. I am just asking because man do they look short?

Right now I have 10 loaded with 5.1gr of Titegroup @ 1.135. They all pass gauge check.

When I load cast swc bullets for my 1911 .45acp, I load them until there is just about a fingernails width worth of the bullet shank sticking out. This is the only way they will feed through my guns. I don’t use the oal length that the books do, because the tips on all swc’s are different lengths, so that is why I use the bullet shanks as the guideline.

Thanks to everybody who responded. Well I finally got to the range. They ran in my Shield and H&K USP with no feed issues. As far as accuracy they did well. The only thing is they were very smokey at the indoor range and I will have to save them for the outdoor range.

If you up the charge they may smoke less. A higher charge will burn better. Just saying.
